The Air Force Association is a nonprofit, independent, professional military and aerospace education association that promotes public awareness of aerospace power and the role it plays in national security.
CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program designed to inspire high school and middle school students to pursue careers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math). CyberPatriot has three main components, the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, AFA CyberCamps and an Elementary School Cyber Education Program. The competition, presented by the Air Force Association (AFA), attracts thousands of students each year and continues to grow, making it difficult for the original website to meet increasingly demanding performance requirements.
AFA selected RDA to rebuild and redesign the CyberPatriot website used for registration and administration of the competition. The project ultimately impacted two sites: the public-facing internet site, and an associated extranet site used for registration and communication to coaches and volunteers.
The success of the project was defined by two critical success factors. The user experience was greatly improved with registrants now having the ability to update their profiles and the registration process itself is smoother and more reliable. As the AFA CyberCamps program grew, AFA once again chose RDA to design a registration system to accommodate the growing program.
